I’ve been teasing at this for a bit, but I’m super excited to announce that I’m launching a new podcast with my friend, the writer and poker player extraordinaire Maria Konnikova.
The podcast — which we’re calling Risky Business — comes from Pushkin Industries and iHeartPodcasts. The first episode is planned for Thursday, May 16.
The terrain is slightly closer to the territory covered by our respective books than to this newsletter — meaning a focus on gambling, risk and decision-making, including everything from poker and sports betting to the risky choices we face in everyday life — although I’m sure we’ll have a lot to say about the election and other political developments, too. We have a lot of angles we can work from: statistics (my background), psychology (hers), and hands-on gambling experience (both of us). Although it will mostly just be the two of us at first, we are well-networked in these industries and plan to eventually conduct interviews and invite special guests.
I’m not going to pitch you too much more because we hope the show will speak for itself — although I’d expect some trial-and-error until we figure out what works best and what doesn’t. Risky Business will be free to listen to. We’d strongly encourage you follow the show here: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart, Pushkin.
Thanks for listening — err, reading — and see you soon.
Please have Clair Malone on often. She was my favorite part of the old 538 pod and it always seemed like you two had a good chemistry bouncing ideas and views off each other.
I am exactly with DH below. I dont do podcasts, so please include a transcript. I really appreciate that Persuasion does that on their stack.
